Release Notes reqSuite® rm 4.7

Version 4.7 introduces new functionality to reqSuite® rm and further improves existing areas. In addition to the automatic syntax validation for configuration rules, this release note also includes the enhancements delivered in the previously published patch.

Automatic syntax validation for configuration rules

The structure of each project in reqSuite® rm is based on a project template. Within this template, conditions can be configured in various places – for example, to control editability, visibility, calculations, or the behavior of rules and attributes.

Previously, these conditions could only be verified within a project based on the corresponding template. To do so, the project had to be updated and tested accordingly. If a condition was syntactically incorrect, the system provided no feedback, making error tracing time-consuming.

With version 4.7, a syntax validation has been integrated directly into the input field for conditions. As soon as a condition is entered, the system automatically checks it for syntactical correctness. If the syntax is incorrect, a specific error message is displayed.

The validation is based solely on a predefined grammar. No semantic validation is performed. For example, if a condition references a non-existent attribute due to a typo (e.g., "DesKription" instead of "Description"), the system does not flag it as incorrect if the word complies with the grammar.

Conditions with syntax errors can still be saved, allowing drafts and intermediate configurations to be retained.

The syntax validation currently applies to the following types of conditions:

  • Value Condition
  • Color Condition
  • Edit Condition
  • Calculation Formula
  • Visibility Condition
  • Rule Condition
  • Rule Action

Additional changes from the recently released patch

As part of patch 4.6.1, several improvements were already introduced in the areas of translation, interface integration, and data import. These changes are summarized again below.

Automatic translation into chinese

The automatic translation feature in reqSuite® rm now supports Chinese as a target language. This enables seamless translation of all content into an additional key business language—without the need for external translation tools.

Global project teams benefit from consistent, automated language support, particularly in international development and supply chain environments.

Improved Jira synchronization

Due to recent changes in the Jira API, synchronization issues occurred in isolated cases. These issues have now been fully resolved through adjustments to the interface logic in reqSuite® rm.

The stable connection to Jira is now fully restored, ensuring smooth data exchange between requirements and development tasks.

Enhanced Excel import/export for self-relations

For configured self-references within a single category, previous exports did not sufficiently represent the directionality of the relationship.

With the new release:

  • Two separate columns are now exported for self-relations to reflect the direction (source/target) accurately
  • The import logic now also supports the extended relationship matrix for self-relations, including the correct positioning of the relation marker (x)

As a result, relationships between elements of the same category are preserved during both export and import. This is particularly useful in models with complex internal structures, such as process steps, use cases, or variants, improving overall data consistency and structural clarity.

Conclusion

With version 4.7, the configuration of project templates is more effectively supported through integrated syntax validation. Incorrectly defined conditions can now be identified during entry, improving the maintainability and reliability of templates.
